Know-How & Services

Pultrusion Expertise, Transferred to Your Operation

We do more than manufacture FRP profiles — we transfer the engineering knowledge, process recipes, and quality systems that enable our partners and clients to build their own pultrusion capability. From a focused consulting engagement to a full turnkey line installation, our services are designed to create self-sufficient FRP producers.

Service Tiers

Three Levels of Engagement

We structure our services into three tiers, each corresponding to a different depth of involvement and knowledge transfer. Clients may engage at any tier, and many progress from Consulting to Technology Transfer as their FRP ambitions grow. Every engagement is led by a senior pultrusion engineer with at least 15 years of production experience.

Tier 1

Consulting

Targeted advisory engagements for organizations that have an existing pultrusion operation or are evaluating entry into FRP manufacturing. Consulting engagements are typically 2–4 weeks in duration and deliver actionable recommendations without ongoing implementation obligations.

Deliverables

  • Feasibility assessment for new profile designs or market applications
  • Production line audit with efficiency and quality improvement recommendations
  • Root cause analysis for recurring quality defects (surface finish, cracking, dimensional drift)
  • Resin system selection guidance for specific chemical or thermal environments
  • Fiber architecture optimization to meet target mechanical properties
  • Written report with findings, recommendations, and implementation priority matrix
Tier 2

Technology Transfer

Comprehensive knowledge transfer programs for organizations building or expanding pultrusion capability. Technology transfer engagements typically span 3–6 months and deliver the complete recipe and process documentation package required for independent production.

Deliverables

  • Resin formulation and mixing procedures with supplier-qualified raw materials list
  • Validated process recipes (pull speed, die temperatures, injection pressure, fiber lay-up schedule)
  • Operator training program (classroom theory + hands-on line operation, 2–3 weeks on-site)
  • Quality control procedures, test methods, and acceptance criteria documentation
  • Production validation run with mechanical testing to confirm specification compliance
  • 6-month post-handover remote technical support
Tier 3

Turnkey

End-to-end project delivery for organizations establishing a new pultrusion facility or adding a complete new product line. Turnkey engagements span 8–14 months and include everything from business case development through production ramp-up to target volumes.

Deliverables

  • Market analysis and product range definition based on regional demand
  • Equipment specification, vendor evaluation, and procurement support (pultrusion machine, cut-off saw, creel, resin mixing, dust extraction)
  • Factory layout design including material flow, utilities, and safety zoning
  • Full Technology Transfer package (all Tier 2 deliverables included)
  • On-site installation supervision and equipment commissioning
  • Production ramp-up support until target output rate and quality are achieved
  • 12-month post-handover remote and on-call technical support
Engagement Process

How We Work Together

Every engagement follows a structured four-phase process designed to ensure clear expectations, measurable milestones, and a clean handover. The depth and duration of each phase scales with the service tier, but the fundamental workflow is consistent across all engagements.

1

Assessment

We begin with a thorough assessment of your current situation, objectives, and constraints. For new operations, this includes market analysis, product range definition, and investment-level scoping. For existing operations, we audit your current production capability, quality data, and equipment condition. The assessment phase concludes with a documented scope definition and feasibility statement that forms the basis for the engagement proposal. Typical duration: 1–2 weeks.

2

Proposal

Based on the assessment, we prepare a detailed technical and commercial proposal that specifies the scope of work, deliverables, timeline, milestones, resource requirements, and fee structure. The proposal is structured around clearly defined work packages, each with measurable completion criteria. We present the proposal in a working session to ensure mutual understanding and alignment before contract execution. Pricing is project-based (not time-and-materials) so that both parties have cost certainty.

3

Implementation

The implementation phase is where knowledge transfer happens. Depending on the tier, this involves on-site engineering work, die design and procurement, process recipe development and validation, operator training sessions, equipment commissioning, and production trial runs. We provide weekly progress reports against the agreed milestone schedule. All technical documentation — recipes, procedures, specifications, training materials — is delivered in editable digital format so that your team can maintain and evolve it independently after handover.

4

Handover

The engagement concludes with a formal handover that includes a complete documentation package, a production validation report demonstrating that target quality and throughput have been achieved, and a defined post-handover support schedule. We conduct a handover review meeting to confirm that all deliverables have been accepted and to agree on the ongoing support arrangement. The post-handover support period (3–12 months depending on tier) ensures that your team has a safety net as they build confidence in independent operation.

Our Advantage

Why Partner With F1 Composite

Technology transfer is only as valuable as the depth of experience behind it. Our team brings decades of hands-on pultrusion production and application engineering experience — not textbook theory, but knowledge earned by running thousands of production hours across dozens of profile types and resin systems.

We have commissioned pultrusion operations on four continents, working with both first-time entrants and established manufacturers expanding into new product categories. Our approach is pragmatic and results-oriented: we transfer not just the "what" of the process, but the "why" behind every parameter — so that your team can troubleshoot, optimize, and innovate independently. We measure success not by the weight of the documentation package, but by the quality and consistency of the profiles your team produces after we leave.

Every engagement includes a clear definition of intellectual property rights. Process recipes, die designs, and quality procedures developed during the engagement become the client's property upon handover — we do not retain royalty or licensing claims on the transferred knowledge. This clean IP model gives our clients full freedom to build, scale, and evolve their pultrusion operations without encumbrance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is pultrusion technology transfer?

Pultrusion technology transfer is the structured delivery of the complete knowledge package required to operate a pultrusion production line and manufacture fiber-reinforced polymer profiles to commercial quality standards. It encompasses die design methodology, resin formulation selection, process parameter development (pull speed, die temperatures, injection pressure), fiber architecture design, quality control procedures, and operator training. The goal is to enable the receiving organization to independently produce conforming FRP profiles without ongoing reliance on the technology provider. Our technology transfer programs include on-site commissioning support, recipe validation, and a defined post-handover technical assistance period.

How long does a typical pultrusion consulting engagement take?

The duration depends on the scope. A focused consulting engagement — such as optimizing an existing production line, troubleshooting a specific quality issue, or evaluating the feasibility of a new profile design — typically requires 2–4 weeks of on-site and remote work. A full technology transfer program, covering die design, recipe development, operator training, and production validation for a new pultrusion line, typically spans 3–6 months from kickoff to handover. A complete turnkey project, including equipment specification, procurement support, factory layout, installation supervision, and production commissioning, runs 8–14 months depending on equipment lead times and facility readiness.

Can F1 Composite help us start a new pultrusion operation from scratch?

Yes. Our Turnkey tier is specifically designed for organizations entering the pultrusion industry for the first time. We guide you through every step: market and product feasibility analysis, business case development, equipment specification and vendor selection, factory layout and utility planning, die design and procurement, raw material supplier qualification, operator recruitment support, hands-on training, process recipe development and validation, quality system setup, and production ramp-up to target volumes. We have successfully delivered turnkey pultrusion programs on four continents and can adapt the scope to your specific market, product range, and investment level.

What ongoing support is available after project handover?

Every engagement includes a defined post-handover support period — typically 3 months for Consulting, 6 months for Technology Transfer, and 12 months for Turnkey projects. During this period, our engineers are available for remote troubleshooting, recipe adjustments, and quality review via video conference and email. After the support period ends, we offer annual retainer agreements for ongoing technical assistance, as well as on-demand consulting for new product development, process optimization, or capacity expansion projects. Many of our technology transfer clients maintain a long-term advisory relationship as they expand their product range and production capacity.
