Define the proposed supply package

Equipment, tooling and material sourcing support forms part of F1 Know-How & Services. We review requirements within a technology-transfer, production-setup or improvement engagement.

Agree the exact equipment configuration or material grade, qualification documents, delivery and support responsibilities before ordering. Availability, pricing, lead time and warranty are confirmed for the proposed package.

What to specify and what to request

Specification inputs and supplier deliverables for Resin Mixing & PU Injection
ScopeYour specificationRequested supplier response
Batch mixerResin and filler system, batch size and mixing purposeA proposed mixing and transfer arrangement for the named formulation
Metering and mixingComponent count, ratio basis, flow range and material viscosityThe specified accuracy, monitoring and calibration method
PU injection packageComponent conditioning, mixing head and injection-box interfaceCompatibility confirmation and a trial using the proposed PU system

Build the injection package by module

Review the exact formulation and optional equipment with the proposed supplier. A general resin label is insufficient.

Build the injection package by module: scope, inputs and delivery records
Module / stageDefine before procurementRequired output / record
A/B tanks and transferSeparate storage, replenishment, level indication and low-level response.Tank/material compatibility, transfer arrangement and alarms.
ConditioningAgitation, moisture control, temperature conditioning or degassing where required by the formulation. An explicit included/optional schedule; tank and hose heating stated separately.
MeteringComponent flow range, ratio basis (mass or volume), viscosity and filler characteristics.Pump/seal selection, calibration method and ratio verification records.
Mixing and hosesMixer type, connection geometry, residence time and replacement/cleaning access.Mixing-head and hose specification matched to the injection interface.
Injection box and dieFiber entry, sealing, mounting and the transition into the heated tool.Joint drawings and a trial that includes both the dosing unit and tooling.
Controls and shutdownCoordination with pulling, monitoring, fault response and approved cleaning arrangements.Commissioning checklist, supplier operating instructions and consumables list.

Verify dosing and product quality together

Equipment checks and laminate checks answer different questions and need separate acceptance records.
Verify dosing and product quality together: scope, inputs and delivery records
Module / stageDefine before procurementRequired output / record
Metering verificationUse the agreed method across the intended operating range and formulation.Record actual delivery and ratio, with the basis and instruments identified.
Conditioning and controlsConfirm the specified alarms, temperature functions and line communication.A functional check record against the purchased configuration.
Representative product trialUse the approved fiber/layup, resin and tool combination.Part dimensions, surface/cure checks and the required material tests.
Changeover and maintenanceConfirm consumables, replacement parts and supplier-defined cleaning steps.Operator training record and the agreed aftercare contacts.

Resolve acceptance before placing an order

  1. CHECK 1

    Identify the exact chemistry

Provide the formulation supplier’s technical and safety documents. Pumps, seals, tanks and cleaning provisions must be selected for the actual materials and intended operating conditions.

  2. CHECK 2

Treat the injection box as an interface

Confirm the connection between dosing equipment, mixing head, injection box and die. Agree how the package responds to line starts, stops and abnormal conditions.

  3. CHECK 3

    Plan changeover and acceptance

Define color or formulation changes, cleaning provisions, calibration checks and material consumption during trials. Request the operating documents and support scope from the proposed equipment supplier.

Purchasing questions

Can a batch mixer be used as a PU metering unit?

These are different duties. A mixer blends a batch; a metering package delivers components in a controlled ratio and integrates with the injection process. Specify the required function before comparing offers.
